"Like everything you've ever loved and nothing you've ever heard" |
Triggah's music is certainly eclectic. He effortlessly spans pop, jazz, funk, hip-hop, reggae, rap, ska, house, electronica and blues. Although a totally independent artist, Triggah has the cream of the UK's musicians and producers queuing up to work with him. His music is not easily pigeon-holed, yet this cheeky cockney chappie has such wide appeal simply because his music is just so damn good. His outstanding compositions and highly intelligent lyrics combine with the virtuoso musicians he has on his recordings, to create something that is very hard to dislike, and almost impossible to dismiss. Having had a colourful and varied career, and having tried most things from teaching R.E. to secondary school pupils in Wales, to working on North Sea oil rigs ("Triggah the Rigger" he says with more than a hint of sarcasm), Triggah has found that his true vocation is in music. Triggah had no formal music training, unlike his father who played the violin, and at one point studied at the Royal Academy. " My dad was a huge jazz fan, and particularly the violin of Steffan Grappeli andYehudi Menuhin. Maybe that's where I get my love of jazz from." Triggah, on the surface, is not someone you'd particularly want your daughter to bring home, however his intelligence (as well as having a Masters degree in philosophy, he's now studying law) is more than evident in his music, and once engaged in conversation with him you quickly find that he is also very witty, and indeed quite charming! Hailing from Ilford in Essex, and having lived in, amongst other places, Hull, Wales, Liverpool, Benidorm, and Salamanca, Triggah is certainly well travelled, but now says he is happy to be living back in Essex. |
